PathWaysPA promotes self-sufficiency through employment , education and family financial advocacy programs in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties. These programs range from job-specific skills training, employment counseling and placement to family literacy and financial education services.

EARN Center

Chief of Staff Kimberly Pope addresses guests at PathWaysPA Employment Center Open House.The PathWaysPA EARN Center at 1324 West Clearfield Street offers free services and incentives to help Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) participants develop the skills they need for family-sustaining jobs. Career placement is coordinated by our partner, EDSI Inc. The EARN Center, near Broad and Allegheny, receives financial and technical support through a variety of sources, including the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare’s Bureau of Employment and Training Programs, the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Bureau of Adult Basic and Literacy Education, and the Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation.  Referrals are made by the Tioga District of the Philadelphia County Assistance Office.

Participants learn about opportunities.The bilingual (Spanish/English) staff of the PathWaysPA EARN Center offers a wide range of services and incentives to help TANF participants develop the skills they need for family-sustaining careers. Services of the EARN Center include:

Financial Education & Advocacy

With access to SEPTA buses and trolleys, our newly renovated site at 3617 Lancaster Avenue is fast becoming a neighborhood hub for presentations on financial education, family advocacy, consumer awareness, community involvement and information about the PA Family Economic Self-Sufficiency Project, which PathWaysPA coordinates throughout Pennsylvania.  For more information, please call Program Manager Allen Alexander at 215-387-1470.

In Delaware County, PathWaysPA provides financial education, including food stamp and other public benefit applications to families and organizations throughout the county, with a special focus on the city of Chester.  Call Joy McManus, Outreach Coordinator, at 610-543-5022 for information or services.

 

Adult Basic Education

Adult Basic Education and GED classes are offered year-round at various sites throughout the Philadelphia and Delaware Counties. Family Literacy

PathWaysPA is a founding member of the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy’s Families That Work collaboratively with 10 Philadelphia partners.  Families That Work began in 1998 to help parents and children  build the skills that are essential to success at home, school and work.  PathWaysPA provides its family literacy services at 3617 Lancaster Avenue, in West Philadelphia. The program emphasizes collaboration between families and the children's school and also between parents and teachers. Delaware County Employment Training & Adult Education

The Customer Service training program is offered to Delaware County Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) participants who want to develop the skills they need for family-sustaining jobs. In addition to the 10-week Customer Service training, participants receive career counseling and job placement services. The Customer Services training program is based at 310 Amosland Road in Holmes, PA, which is served by SEPTA’s 113 bus route. For information, contact Instructor Rana Borden at 610-543-5022. Adult Basic Education and GED classes are offered year-round at various sites in Delaware County, including the CareerLInk in the city of Chester.
