SERVICES TO CHILDREN IN THEIR OWN HOMES
PathWaysPA provides
Services to Children in their Own Homes (SCOH) to families throughout
the city of Philadelphia. As with most of our programs, the families
in the SCOH program have experienced a lifetime of violence, abuse
or neglect. Most families are referred through the Department
of Human Services.
Like all of PathWaysPA's programs, the goal of SCOH services is to continue to strengthen each familys capacity to be its own resource and sustain family reunification through comprehensive family-based services. The program has an emphasis on working with families in which sexual abuse is an issue.
PathWaysPA provides these comprehensive SCOH services to 90+ families at any given time. The service level varies from one to three direct contact hours per week for a minimum of six months. Service components of the SCOH program include:
- Ongoing assessment and case planning;
- Counseling, intervention, and direct social work services for members of client families;
- Structured interventions, which promote life skills development by members of the client families;
- Advocacy for acquiring, coordinating, and monitoring the use of other community resources needed to meet family needs;
- Case management services, which plan, coordinate, and monitor client families participation in the total array of services and other community resources;
- Working with families to ensure options of TANF guidelines and regulations are utilized, including literacy, job training, and employment, in concurrence with the child and family wellness goal.
