Achieving Independence Center Female Mentoring (AIC)
helps young women between the ages of 16 and 24 achieve self-sufficiency through mentoring relationships with caring adults. The program is part of a collaborative effort with the Achieving Independence Center to empower youth who have been in the foster care system to become successful and independent adults. Project Peace/Teen Mother Support Program
is located at 324 Richmond Street. This project engages pregnant and inexperienced teens in parenting, job readiness and life-skills activities, designed to teach self-sufficiency and positive child-rearing, in order to prevent child abuse and homelessness. Family Financial Education and Advocacy (FSEA) Program
staff work directly with clients to resolve issues with and maximize opportunities available through social services and public benefits systems. Family Financial Advocates provide benefits information, referral services and Family Economic Self-Sufficiency Project materials to families who have returned to welfare because they are no longer employed.
